“We saw the famous Gelada Baboos and three Walia Ibex”

A Trip advisor review from a trek I did last year:
“We spent a whole day with Sammy in Simien Mountains and went from the entrance as far as Chenek. We saw the famous Gelada Baboos and three Walia Ibex. The landscape was impressive and our hike to the waterfall very nice. Sammy has proven to be a great tour guide and being very knowledgeable. We had a great day and can recommend Sammy for your trip to Simiens.”

2019 – 3 Day Trek

We hiked for three days in our group of four through the Simien National Park – here we are near the Sankaber campsite enjoying the dramatic views – and feeling a bit cold!

Here I am looking out for the wildlife in the mountains near to Chennek. The Simien Mountains have an incredible variety of birds, and during the hikes I will identify each species as we see them and tell you about their characteristics.

Paragliding the park?

This month I went hiking with 3 Canadian’s. They wanted to do a three day trek, we went to Geech but when we got there they enjoyed it so much they decided to go all the way to Ras Dashen. We had to buy food on the way as we did not have enough from Debark.

We caught a photo of a paraglider on the first day, a great way to see the park!

December 2014

“From 26-30 December 2014 we ( a family of 4 persons) have been trekking in the beautiful Simien mountains. We have spent 4 unforgettable days with trekking and camping in a still unspoiled nature. Every day, our excellent guide Samuel Kasaw, who is also a great trip organizer, showed us the nicest spots. As Samuel’s English is very good, it was great fun and easy to communicate with him. Samuel is a Simien mountain native and he has a great knowledge of flora and fauna in this area. With his help we have seen all the typical Simien mountain wildlife like the Gelado baboons, Ethiopian wolf and Walibex. Simien mountains is a must see. If you go, don’t forget to bring good sleeping bags as nights are freezing cold!”Marjolein PraaningEthiopia_Treck_7
